# Bulk Template Upload

> Create many WhatsApp templates at once by uploading a CSV in the prescribed format.

Bulk Upload creates multiple WhatsApp templates in one go from a CSV file, instead of building
each one by hand in the template editor.

It is worth using whenever you are creating templates in bulk — a new language set, a migration
from another provider, or a seasonal campaign family that shares a structure.

## Upload templates

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Bulk Uploads">
    Sign in to the portal, then go to **Channels → WhatsApp → Bulk Uploads**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Get the sample file">
    Click **Upload Template File**, then **Download Sample Template**.

    The sample defines the required CSV format and includes fields such as **WABA ID**,
    **Name**, **Language**, **Category**, and **Message**, along with the other required
    columns.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in your templates">
    Complete your template details using exactly the format in the sample file — the same
    columns, in the same order.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload the file">
    Either click **Click to Browse** and select the file, or drag and drop it into the upload
    area.

    | Requirement | Value |
    | - | - |
    | File format | CSV |
    | Maximum file size | 10 MB |
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the templates">
    Click **Create Templates**. The templates are uploaded and processed.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Always start from a freshly downloaded sample file rather than reusing an old one. Adding,
  renaming, or reordering columns will cause the upload to fail — and a partially valid file is
  harder to diagnose than one that fails outright.
</Warning>

## After uploading

Uploaded templates enter the same approval process as templates created individually — they are
submitted to Meta and must be approved before a campaign can use them. Check their status under
**WhatsApp → Asset Management → Templates**, or via the
[Fetch Template API](/api-reference/whatsapp/templates-fetch).

<Note>
  Category matters as much in bulk as it does one at a time. A file that miscategorises marketing
  content as utility will be rejected template by template — see
  [Template categories](/guides/whatsapp/template-categories) before preparing the CSV.
